We will gather, with tea, to turn our mindful and gentle gaze to poetry.

Read, listen to, and savor the singular beauty of each poem, while engaging in a mindfulness process inspired by the sacred practice of lectio divina.

Cancelled: Waking Up Within Our Type
Mar 21 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This workshop series has been cancelled!

We hope to practice with you another time.

As we all know, waking up is hard to do!

Staying awake can be even harder.

In the Enneagram world, Don Riso and Russ Hudson identified nine specific “Wake-up Calls” to remind each of the types how to recognize when they are asleep. Gurdjieff taught that we have to learn how to construct and set our own “alarm clocks” if we want to be wakened from our typical slumber.

Join Dave Hall and Katy Taylor for a 4-part workshop series devoted to the fine art of waking ourselves up.

Together, we will explore how to bring fun, creativity, compassion, and a sense of humor to the project of living more fully awakened lives.

Workshop Cancelled: Wednesdays, March 21st & 28th and April 4th & 11th, from 7:00-9:00 pm.

Women in Love with the Divine
Jul 18 @ 7:30 pm – 8:45 pm

Through original, celticky, and sacred chant and song,

may the door of your heart slip open.

In Sufism, Laila is the deep secret love of God, that fierce and sweet song that stirs the heart for union with the Beloved. Through angelic voice, mountain dulcimer and prayerful intent, she joyfully reminds you Who you truly are.

Katy sings original and medieval chant and song that weaves celtic ornamentation with haunting, mystical invocations and prayers. Her voice creates a bridge between heaven and earth, calling down the angels from on high to join hands and hearts with the goddess of the earth.

Known and deeply appreciated in the Hudson Valley for years, Amy puts the very essence of her entire being into song. She lifts you up into a higher plane with her beautiful, larger-than-life voice.

Note: The Woodstock Sufi Center is above the Burnette Gallery and between Mirabai Books and Catskill Art and Office Supply.

We look forward to singing for (and with ) you!

Introduction to the Instincts
Nov 1 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

The instincts of the Enneagram teachings are the name we give to a group of three flavors of instinctual life-force energies. These are the same energies we share with our animal ancestors.

The instincts supply the fuel for the way our type manifests in the world, so learning about and working with them is a way to understand how your Enneagram type is driven around in the world, how you go on autopilot and lose presence.

In this workshop, we will explore the three instincts, inquire as to how they show up in our lives, and come up with ways to live them in a more balanced manner that promotes growth, transformation, and deeper presence.

FREE Full Voice Workshop
Nov 2 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Full Voice: The Art & Practice

of Vocal Presence

How can you embody your full presence–through your voice?

How can you speak so people will listen?

What gifts reside deep inside you that are yearning for expression?

How would your life be different if you were “unsilenced?” If your voice were alive, expressive, powerful, and clear?

No matter what you do for a living, you spend a good part of every day in conversation–at work, at home, and in your community. As important as our voices are, few of us know how to embody them to their full potential. Many of us feel self-conscious about how we sound, but don’t know how to make authentic, lasting change in our voices.

Learning to consciously tap the full range of expression available to you in your voice also opens up a fuller range in your bodysoul… and makes it much more likely that your message will reach the minds and hearts of your listeners. Working with your own full voice makes you a more skillful listener as well.

Full Voice is the work of Barbara McAfee–I am in her Full Voice Coach Training Program and this is part of my practicum!

In this highly interactive, practical, and fun workshop, together, we will:

  • Explore our vocal strengths, habits, assumptions, and challenges,
  • Increase vocal awareness, flexibility, and expression using the Five Elements Framework,
  • Identify ways to use voice to project authority, express passion, extend compassion, and convey vision in everyday conversations,
  • Learn how to use our voices to awaken our gifts,
  • And have fun, playing and making sound together!

Friday, November 2nd, from 7:00-8:30

Thank you for your interest—
to be rescheduled in the New Year!

Do you take mindful time for yourself / yourSelf?

Resting deeply in your true Self is different from watching TV, zoning out with our favorite substance, or cruising around the web

Resting deeply in your true Self usually includes these attributes:

  • slowing down,
  • being quiet and/or still and listening deeply within,
  • connecting with your individual creative expression,
  • being mindfully attuned to whatever you are engaged with,

We especially need this during the holidays!

We will gather, with tea and a gf & df treat*, to rest in ourselves. (*Real food; may include butter.)

We will engage with our creativity, meditate, share, and take time to deeply fill our wells so that we can meet the world with more presence.

The Divine Essence Qualities of the Enneagram
Jan 24 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Did you know that the Enneagram is not just about personality? The types are best understood when we consider their divine origins. Each type, at its deepest essence, is a flavor of the Divine, of True Nature, of God. When we feel disconnected from the Divine, the ego personality that develops is a compensation for this loss, an attempt to get back to our sacred home.

We will explore the Essence Qualities of the 9 types with words, image, and poetry. From this deep understanding of our Essence, we understand how feeling separated from it causes each ego type personality to unfold with perfect beauty and coherence. We will also consider how this loss of divine Essence contributes to the distortion of the instincts.

Women’s Yoga, Evening Practice
Feb 28 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Relax, renew, and restore with SomaYoga, Yin Yoga, meditation, and embodiment practices specifically designed for a woman’s body, heart, mind, and soul.

Yoga, as we practice it in the US, has been developed by men for a man’s body, not a woman’s. Our curves, our different hormonal cycles, our neurological wiring, and the body tyranny we face in our culture… these all call out for a different way of practicing.

Women’s yoga, as I’ve been studying and practicing it, is about creating space for you as a woman to express and be all of yourself through your body. It is a way of inhabiting your body in an inquisitive way, of coming home to how a pose can flex, move, curve, and flow to feel good and opening and inviting in your woman’s body.

Women’s Yoga is an embodiment practice that includes all impulses of life—messy, chaotic, calm, curvy… however inhabiting your body and life from the inside expresses on the outside. Allowing your body her full expression is what creates the space to deepen your presence and feel more trust and acceptance of yourself. Read more.

I would love to practice with you!

Yoga Nidra & the Art of Deep Rest
Mar 7 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Yoga nidra is as sleep-based, conscious relaxation and meditation technique, also known as yogic sleep. It is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, when your body and mind are completely relaxed, but your deeper awareness is online.

After overviewing the process, you will be led in a yoga nidra meditation, a multi-step process for integration of body, heart, mind, and spirit. We will also discuss the art and energetic benefits of the deep rest yoga nidra provides, and how to cultivate more rest into your life.

Advance registration is required. Registration closes the day prior to the event.

Cancelled–Discovering Wholeness with the Enneagram
Apr 12 @ 7:00 pm – Apr 14 @ 12:30 pm

Cancelled–Watch for a New Date in 2020!

Taught by Dave Hall and Katy Taylor at the beautiful, rural Christine Center in Wisconsin.

What does it mean to recover our wholeness?

How is it that we find ourselves, as adults, living in a small room tucked away in a corner of the glorious mansion of ourselves?

What happened to the freedom and joy and possibility that we may remember from our early childhood?

The Enneagram can give us a focusing lens on our core personality type, helping us understand how the world and our families responded to our core needs, desires, and fears—and how we, in turn, responded to the world—creating the partial personality we inhabit now. The Enneagram can also show us, because it is itself a complete model of the human soul, the way to recover our initial wholeness.

We learn about our own core personality type, not to label ourselves or to stuff ourselves into a box, but to understand the nature of the box we already live in—and to see the way out!

Over many years of teaching the Enneagram together, we have developed our own unique way of conveying the riches of this transformational system, incorporating stories, poetry, music, imagery, discussion, and embodied experience, all as ways to help participants find their unique path back to wholeness.

Minimum of 15 students.

Divine Presence & the Dominant Affect Groups of the Enneagram
Apr 25 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Enneagram types divide symmetrically into a number of triads which reveal similarities about the types in them.

One of these is the Dominant Affect Groups, first named and developed by Don Riso and called the Harmony Triads by David Daniels.

The Dominant Affect triad shows us one of the ways, as a result of our type, that we initially reacted to the loss of direct contact with the Divine. Within each triad, each type lives out a specific flavor of how we manage that loss and, in so doing, resist reality, losing presence.

We must continually practice to undo these underlying orientations to reality in order to be in more direct contact with the Divine. As we do, we not only feel more present, but also in more real contact with others.

We will explore not only the theory, but how we can practice to release the grip of the Dominant Affects and become more whole.

The Enneagram Symbol & the Law of Three: Busting Through Roadblocks on Our Spiritual Path
May 22 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The Law of Three teaches us how to work through the places where we get stuck in dualistic either-or thinking. Learning how to access the Third Force leads to more “Win-Win-Win” outcomes in our lives. And, yes, that makes three wins!

In this workshop, we will explore Gurdjieff’s Process Enneagram to understand how accessing Third Force enables us to jump to a higher “octave” in our work of psycho-spiritual transformation.

Free for members, students, and first-time guests. No advance registration is required.

Autumn Yoga, Meditation & Life Balance Mini-Retreat
Nov 17 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

You give, you work, you sacrifice. But are you brave enough to put yourself at the top of your priority list?

Calling all women who do too much! Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s a revolutionary act. A feminine road back to yourself. And it changes everything.

You already know this is true. But sometimes, we need a reminder. A skilled guide back to our own inner wisdom. A sacred pause from life’s endless To Do’s … so we can return to our deepest, truest vitality.

This self-care mini-retreat is lovingly designed to help busy women harness the healing power of ancient feminine wisdom within their modern lives … so you can reclaim the lasting harmony and happiness that is your birthright. We will engage with the contemplative energies of Autumn together: turning within, harvesting everything you’ve created, releasing what no longer serves you.

Whether you are running your own business or raising a family (or both), you’ll discover how to live a meaningful, authentic life, the feminine way: guided from within.

The Autumn Mini-Retreat will support you in aligning with the seasonal energies of contemplation, feasting, and letting go, through women’s practices, women’s yoga, insight meditation, intuitive journalling, contemplative solitude, sacred ritual, and creative group practices.
