A Quiet Winter Solstice Gathering, via zoom
Dec 21 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join Interfaith Minister and Songstress Katy Taylor for an evening celebrating the turning of the year. Katy will lead the group in song and sing a few pieces solo, weaving poetry and participatory ritual that invites us into the depth, stillness, and contemplative aspects of the season. Consider having a candle and matches available if you want to participate in the candle-lighting towards the end.

This gathering takes the place of the bigger, community-led Winter Solstice celebration QUUF sponsored in 2019-2020. Hopefully, we can celebrate in person in 2022.

Contact Katy for the zoom link or with any questions.

Easter Fire at North Beach
Apr 17 @ 6:17 am – 7:15 am

Join me and Elisabeth Haight to celebrate Easter with a Sunrise Service outside at North Beach!

We will have a fire to gather around, but dress warmly as we’ll need to maintain physical distance and encourage everyone to wear masks.

Come sing Easter in! Wordsheets provided.

Chant Service for Unity Church
May 22 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

I will be leading the chanting portion of this service, with original, Celtic-inspired, and local chants and short songs, along with prayers and poems interspersed.

This service is in-person at Unity Church in Port Townsend as well as live-streamed on zoom. Click the “Sunday Service Live” button on Unity’s home page to join via zoom.

Becoming an Earth Being, Online Unitarian Universalist Service
Jul 24 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Join interfaith minister, earth lover, and longtime spiritual practitioner Katy Taylor to explore how we can participate in the healing of earth in the ways that we live our daily lives.

This service will also include Katy singing, joined by Heidi Mattern.

To watch the pre-recorded service in real time, you can gather with others in the QUUF sanctuary (vaccination and mask required) or go to the QUUF homepage and click on “VIDEO” in the upper right-hand corner. You can watch the service anytime after it has premiered on the QUUF YouTube Channel.

Evensong, 1st Sundays
Aug 1 @ 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm

Join me and Elisabeth Haight for a 45-minute, contemplative Christian music prayer service that draws on the Celtic Christian and Taize traditions.

Starting in July (hopefully) and continuing during the warm months, we hope to meet outside, at Chetzemoka Park in the shelter of the lovely trees and sacred land. If this is not possible, we will meet via Zoom. *** Please watch your email–if rain is strongly forecast, we will meet via Zoom. ***

Please contact Elisabeth or Katy for more information (and for the zoom link when not in person).

When in person, we follow the guidance of Washington State in terms of masking.

Chant & Song for Community, Healing & Hope–1st & 3rd Thursdays!
Aug 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Come sing together via Zoom on 1st and 3rd Thursdays!

(In July, only 3rd Thursday.)

We will chant together to create the world we want to live in through our song. We will sing chants from many sources—Thich Nhat Hanh, 12th c. Hildegard von Bingen, Scots Gaelic, local singer/composers Laurence Cole and Gretchen Sleicher, and many more from the community singing tradition.

Singing is known to help connect us to ourselves and to each other, as well as to calm the nervous system. We all need more of that in our lives.

I teach each chant line by line so you can follow along, and then we sing all together. Because of the nature of Zoom (delays due to intermittent connection), you’ll only be able to hear and sing with my voice, but you’ll be able to see others and have the visual experience of singing and being together. You don’t need to be a “singer”—just come and add your voice and heart full of good intentions!

To join, contact me for the Zoom link no later than 6:00 on the day of the chanting if possible. Once we’ve started I won’t be able to respond to emails.
