This.
This amazing peony.
Right here.
Opening, graceful, present.
How can I not look at it?
How can I not stop and drink it in?
Now, it says.
I look.
Yes, this.
I drink it in.
Come again.
I sink, I dive, I am drawn in.
The beauty.
The simplicity.
The “isness.”
This simple peony.
From my garden.
In a vase.
Sitting on my desk.
Inviting me.
To stop.
To savor.
To be.
Now.
And now.
And, forever, now.
Yes! I enjoy being drawn in by the beauty, scent & ephemeral nature of flowers. Georgia O’Keefe understood this; it takes time to take in a flower, just as to savor a meal. I often like to imagine being a honeybee, not for the busyness of pollen collecting, but for being drawn deeply into the heart of the flower, surrounded by her. I like this pause… and today honor the flower by taking time to appreciate us both as creations sharing the essential nature of Love.

oh, love this, Dianne! being inside the heart of the flower and surrounded by her. it feels very different experientially to imagine myself inside as opposed to drawing the flower in to me through my eyes…
